I am running Gnome on Mandriva 2011, and on the panel bar
are 3 circles - one containing an A, one with a 9 and the
third with a vertical arrow. I have not been able to work
out what they do or what to do with them.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Brian.

Not offhand. Do you get an information bubble when you mouse-over?

How did you install? I have a 2011 Gnome installed with iso from [thanks
akdengi]:

http://code.google.com/p/edumandriva-experimental/

Not seeing the circles on either panel. Point being is this a Gnome only
install or Gnome added to a default, KDE4 install [which could be using
kdm instead of gdm]? My Gnome and LXDE installs use gdm with no kdm or
KDE4 packages installed that I'm aware of.

I'm not a Gnome guy [KDE4 usually or LXDE] but all seems normal here on
my Gnome only install.

Hi Dwight,

I was using Gnome with Metisse under 2010 and did an upgrade, with ALL
sources available. So that's how I got gnome.

Incidentaly, I tried removing all .gnome etc. folders from my home
directory and let the system recreate them, and still got this
'feature'.

Nope. Nothing whatsoever. Mouse-over, right-click, left-click, and
everything else I have tried does nothing at all (so far as I can see).

Excellent thought - something I hadn't come up with, and it does look
likely. However it doesn't seem to be correct. Activating the
corresponding keys on the keyboard makes no difference to this display.

Brian.
