WINE 1.3.27 audio issues explained not resolved completely

I reported a loss of the Pulse and Jack audio drivers with the latest
Backports release of WINE version 1.3.27. It would appear that the folks
at WINE have changed the audio model and that this issue may have
affected anything 1.2.25 or up. I cannot confirm this, though I thought
I'd have noticed it as I was running .26 for a time.

I was unable to solve the audio issue even by rebuilding WINE 1.3.27
locally from the source.

What I finally did was to grab a SRPM for 1.3.24 from Cooker, the last
version with working Pulse drivers, and rebuild that locally, then I
installed those rpms. That took me back to working audio with the ALSA,
Pulse, and Jack drivers present.

The latest Backport is still missing Wine-Gecko 1.3, but as I need a
working Pulseaudio driver, this is a moot point now.

Using just the ALSA driver the newest version provided caused sound to
be choppy and unusable for me on the M$ DSP apps I use. Thus the latest
versions of WINE are not something I can use here.

I am not sure what the plan is over at WINE and would be interested if
anyone knows whether Pulse support will eventually re-added again, or
what the actual issue may have been.

I've seen a lot of discussion across several distros regarding these
latest WINE versions breaking audio.
